Utopian wings

"We will meet in the first class", where our departing words. This was quite early in the morning, and quite a reasonable number of people could be seen jittering around collecting their bags and looking for a means of transport home where ever home was for them… such was not the case for us.

Just a few hours earlier I had just boarded my Mathathu [in this case the flying my Mathathu] one of those gigantic flying vessels humans call an Airbus. My eyes were quite heavy, and I was feeling sad and worried that I had not carried a jersey to keep me warm during this evening expedition. I felt as though I was dreaming and yet I slowly jotted like a zombie through the thick dark air and mist of firmament. As I slowly boarded and quickly looked for my seat. I had enjoyed my stay here but alas tis was time for me to depart and arrive to my very own utopian dreams. No sooner than I had sited that I envisioned the land I was headed to, I also had the liberty to network and connect with one of the ambassadors of the land I was headed to.   I quickly was enlightened of the grandeur of the land I was certainly headed to. Olesia an ambassador and representation of the heart of Africa. Everyone on board had their own reasons why they were traveling some might have been headed home and some might have been actually departing from home to further places. The flight slowly took off the runway and actually had to experience quite a scary turbulence. A wave of thoughts flooded our minds … at least my mind, I actually uttered a silent prayer and with my fellow neighbor, we helped make sure our seat belts were fastened properly and graced ourselves for what would become our fate. Fate was on our side, we weathered the storm and the flight smoothly charted its course breaking thick mists of clouds along its path. The beauty of the stars could be seen near by, a peep to the ground was a tapestry of manmade stars. We dared each other to share secrets and dared each other to achieve excellence. I lamented the beauty of the fine damsels I had seen in Ethiopia, they were refined, they were humble, and too good to be true. Olesia described her form to be more of an intro-extrovert, quite modern and ancient in taste at the same time. Truly everything denotes there is a greater power out there as described by the view and experience I had. In less than 2 hours we kissed the ground, it’s always beautiful for such a bird to touch down and kiss the runway. I felt home away from home. I had made a friend in Olesia, the definition of utopian dreams. I had arrived in my second home in a quest to meet my very own damsel.

We quickly got off the mathathu scrambled for our bags and waited for our loved ones to come and pick up. As we waited we ordered a warm cup of  chocolate to keep ourselves warm. Tis was goodbye. Tis was welcome to Nairobi.

“Till we meet in first class”

Utopian Wings , is a descriptive story by Felix the author when he was traveling from Ethiopia to Kenya (to meet his girlfriend.) He met with Olesia an ambassador of Kenya in her own right and they networked and became friends. 1st class can be a tag to seek excellence and to stay motivated to achieve great things in life. Hope Olesia gets to come to our wedding with Leah.
